BURSITIS

Bursitis is inflammation or irritation of bursa. Bursa are small fluid filled sacks that cushion the bones, tendons and muscles near your joint. The most common location for bursitis are in the shoulder, elbow and hip. Bursitis offer occurs near joints that perform frequent repetitive motion Causes: • Throwing a base ball or lifting something over your head repeatedly • Leaning on your elbows for long periods • Extensive kneeling for tasks such as scrubbing floors • Prolong sitting particularly on hard surfaces • Other causes include injury to the affected area and arthritis Symptoms: • Aches and stiff joint • Swollen and red joint • Pain on movement • Fever Diagnosis: Clinical examination by Doctor Treatment: • Rest the Affected joint and protect in further trauma • Medication • Self care – Cryotherapy, Avoiding lying on the side of bursitis, Avoid standing for long periods of time, loose weight • Aspiration • Surgery
