SCOLIOSIS

The back bone curves to the side the angle of the curve maybe small or large. Anything that measures more than 10 degrees is considered Scoliosis. Doctor may use the letter Cans to describe the curve of the backbone. Causes • In as many as 80% of the cases there is no exact reason for a curved spine • This is called idiopathic • In Non structural chlorosis the spine works normally but looks curve • This is because of muscle spasm or one leg being longer than the other • When these problems are treated this type of chlorosis often goes away. • The structural scoliosis is where the curve of the spine is rigid and can’t be reversed Causes include • Cybereal palsy • Muscular dystrophy • Birth defects • Infections • Tumours • Genetic conditions Symptoms & Science • Uneven shoulders • Uneven waist • One shoulder blade more prominent than the other • One hip higher than the other • Risk Factors • Age • Begins during the growth spurt that occurs just before puberty • Sex • Girls have much higher risk • Family history • Chlorosis can run in families Diagnosis Neurological exam by the doctor for muscle weakness, numbness and abnormal reflexes. Treatment • Braces • Surgery • Electrical stimulation of muscles • Enclosing Spondylitis • It is a form of arthritis having chronic inflammation of the spine and the sacro iliac joints • It affects males more than females • It is genetic inherited
